# DokuWiki migration report

This report accounts for the 29 selected DokuWiki source pages and their 28 unique Starlight destinations. `pages/start.txt` and `pages/study.txt` were intentionally combined on the landing page. Generic DokuWiki documentation was outside the selected source scope. Newer live-wiki captures remain research material under `to-be-studied/` and are not published. Present-day association references use the current Department of Advanced Computing Sciences name; legacy department and programme names remain only in clearly historical material.

## Source inventory

“Outdated” records whether the destination displays the standard warning that its migrated information may be outdated. Link handling distinguishes converted source links, converted plain-text references, newly verified links, genuine removals, and sources with no content links. “None” means that the source had no item in that category, not that it was skipped during review.

## Removed unresolved home-page targets

The old home page exposed Minutes and Manuals targets, but the selected export contained no corresponding source pages and therefore no valid destinations. These knowingly broken targets were removed. Source programme links became local navigation, the Incognito and ICT links were converted, and the source-era DKE department URL was replaced with the newly verified current DACS page.

## Source-era summaries and exams claim

The Bachelor, Master AI, and Master DSDM overview sources said course summaries and old exams could be found in corresponding folders. The selected export did not contain those materials. A later recovery from the live legacy server found 332 current PDFs across the DokuWiki media namespaces. After the user confirmed permission from the documents' creators, the recovered files were published under `public/media/legacy-dokuwiki/` and catalogued on the Previous Exams and Documents page.

## Recovered legacy PDF archive

The public archive contains 332 PDFs totaling 417,839,494 bytes. All files retain their original DokuWiki namespace hierarchy. Every file has a valid PDF signature and was successfully parsed with Poppler `pdfinfo`. The tab-separated `docs/pdf-inventory.tsv` records the original media ID, public URL, repository path, source URL, byte size, and SHA-256 checksum. There are 297 unique content hashes; 68 paths belong to 33 duplicate-content groups. Duplicate paths were retained because their original course and namespace context matters for discoverability.

The files were recovered on 2026-08-03 through the legacy DokuWiki Media Manager and `_media` endpoints at `https://msvincognito.nl/wiki/`. The origin certificate had expired, so retrieval used the explicitly supplied hostname-to-IP mapping with TLS certificate verification disabled for that origin only. Deleted historical media revisions were not added; the archive represents files available from the current media namespaces. The publication decision is documented in `docs/pdf-publication-review.md`; publication proceeded after the user confirmed permission from the documents' creators.

## Removed DokuWiki controls

Editing, page-creation, upload, cache, and index-menu controls belonged to DokuWiki rather than to the public content. `NEWPAGE`, `indexmenu`, `~~NOCACHE~~`, edit links, registration/upload instructions, and namespace-only navigation were removed. Maintainers now edit Markdown or MDX through the repository workflow.

## Removed Year 2 media-upload link

The Bachelor Year 2 source contained a malformed media-manager/upload link. That editing control could not resolve on the static site, so it was removed without exposing an obsolete or private editing URL.

## Historical Study Abroad guidance

The Study Abroad source makes time-sensitive claims tied to 2022, including eligibility and application guidance. Those claims remain for historical context, but the destination explicitly says they must be verified against current Maastricht University and programme rules. The official UM study-abroad page is a newly verified destination link; it did not originate in the source.

## Historical IT services

The IT page names source-era services, URLs, and instructions, including MyUM, EleUM, Student Desktop Anywhere, VPN steps, printing, and historical timetable navigation. These are not presented as current instructions. The destination uses a prominent historical warning, converts useful source links, and retains the legacy EleUM and VPN URLs only as non-clickable historical code. No successor URL was added.

## Historical laptop advice

Laptop prices, processor generations, RAM and storage capacities, operating-system assumptions, and the listed performance tiers reflect the source period. They were preserved rather than silently replaced with current purchasing advice. The page prominently labels the entire section historical and tells readers to verify current programme requirements, prices, and hardware support.

## Publication boundary

Raw research captures remain stored only under `to-be-studied/` and are not served by the site. The 93-page newer-wiki snapshot is retained for research, while the 115-page legacy crawl was reviewed to recover missing course information. That review produced 54 supplemental course pages in `src/content/docs/`; empty placeholders, excluded utility pages, and raw captures remain unpublished.
